Database Administrator (Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, DBA)
A leading investment bank is immediately seeking an experienced DBA with strong skills in Sybase and Oracle to join their highly skiiled IT Infrastructure team baed in the City of London. The successful DBA will be responsible for providing Database Administration and Technical Support responsible for the delivery of business critical, highly available and high performance environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and complete Database Administration projects and tasks as assigned by IT Management
- Perform Installation, configuration, upgrades and maintenance of Database environments including the related elements of Applications (all Environments - Dev, Test, UAT and Prod)
- Produce and Maintain Documented Operational Procedures and Diagrams for all Database Environments and related Applications Support
- Provide support for Developers and Business Users requests and queries
- Conduct Performance Monitoring/Tuning, and Capacity Monitoring/Planning for all Database Environments
- Perform the Security Administration Function for all Database environment
- Ensure that all Database backups are performed successfully
- Produce scripts to perform and automate regular Administration and Housekeeping tasks
- Liaison with Software Vendors, 3rd Party Suppliers, Business Users and IT Development.
- Perform and Assist with the Recovery of Systems and Applications at Disaster Recovery test
Skills and Experience:
- Sybase Database Administration
- Oracle Database Administration
- Financial experience
- Sybase (inc. 12.5 and 15) running on Solaris
- Oracle (release 10G and above) running on Solaris
- Microsoft SQL server
- Database Performance Monitoring and Tuning Utilities and Commands
- Solaris experience to perform the DBA Functions competently
- Shell Scripting Skills
- Murex Application experience desirable
